In short, a Maker is a person or thing that makes or produces something. 
They are seen as experts having a good deal of knowledge or skill in emerging technologies or crafts that will create the jobs of the future. Examples are 3D printing, food printing, robotics, wearables... 

In addition, they need to want to make a difference to communities by passing on knowledge and helping people develop skills for future employment e.g. robot maintenance, 3D printer services. They are likely to be building their own businesses and Maker Wharf can support them in doing this - see What We Offer below.

What are our expectations of a Resident Maker?

 

1.

When business permits, take on at least one apprentice sourced from the local community to learn about your innovative trade of the future

2.

Carry out at least one workshop every six to eight weeks to educate the immediate and wider community about your area of making

3. 

For client work found jointly during the residency, share a percentage of revenue generated
